A QUESTION OF SIZE: THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF LARGE DISPLAYS

Stand Alone Displays, Banners, Promotions, Advertising

SIGNIFICANT

According to freedictionary.com, the word size can be defined as:  “the physical dimensions, proportions, magnitude, or extent of an object.”   It is however also defined as “the character, value, or status with reference to the capacity to meet given requirements.”

Is that not exactly what you want your brand to portray? Its character and values?  Does your branding display the capacity to meet these requirements?

It has repeatedly been shown that large images engage motivational systems and evoke a broad range of cortical, somatic, and autonomic reactions in the human brain.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SIZE

We have all heard the phrase:  “size matters”. On a psychological level, size perception can make all the difference in the world. Retail outlets know this to be fact and with this knowledge, came the invention of ego sizing.

We find the following relevant:

Researchers say that bigger words, printed in a larger font size, create stronger emotional brain responses and also found that reading larger font sizes produces emotional effects that begins earlier and lasts longer than those resulting from reading smaller font sizes.

As an image becomes smaller it can be seen as more distant, less significant and therefore easily be disregarded by the brain.

Visual merchandising is the activity of promoting the sale of goods, especially by its presentation in retail outlets. This includes combining product, environment and space into a stimulating and engaging display to encourage the sale of a product or service.

HOW THE FULL STRETCH DISPLAY SYSTEM USES SIZE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

Full Stretch Display has repeatedly managed to create something completely unique in the market place by utilising our customisable system hardware to create seamless prints and larger than life displays.

BUT WHAT DOES IT COST?

Using our engineered system is extremely cost effective as the initial investment in the hardware delivers its return on investment time after time. The system can be adapted every time for renewed use by simply changing the print. This is shown below, when SA Tourism used the same system with some modification and different prints, first at the Sandton Convention Centre and later at the Tourism Indaba in KZN.

Is your visual display sending out the right branding message to your audience?

The way your customers experience your brand is related to how well you tell your visual merchandising story.

By creating stimulating and evocative displays, you help form the customer's understanding of your products and services.

Next time you plan an interior or display setup for retail or exhibition use, consider the significance of an investment in size.
